Elizabethtown—Shawn Edwards accepted the call as director of missions for the Severns Valley Baptist Association. He will begin duties on June 5.

Edwards, a graduate of Western Kentucky University, Southern Seminary, and Luther Rice Seminary, was born and raised in Kentucky. He has served in churches in West Virginia and North Carolina as well.

He says, because of his Kentucky roots, he is “looking forward to serving God with” the members of Severns Valley Association churches.

“Shawn was a big advocate for missions going and giving while serving in the local church, and I’m hopeful that he will do the same in the association,” Eric Allen, Kentucky Baptist Convention’s missions mobilization team leader, said. “I’m optimistic that the KBC’s strong partnership with the Severns Valley Baptist Association will continue under Shawn’s leadership.”

The association is hosting a meet and greet for Edwards and his family on June 11 from 2-4pm.
