GUEST VIEWPOINT: Time to Reset

Guest article from Todd Gray, Kentucky Baptist Convention Evangelism, Church Planting and Collegiate Ministry team leader

The KBC Evangelism, Church Planting and Campus Ministry team desires to encourage, equip and inspire Kentucky Baptist church leaders to become more intentionally evangelistic. One of the ways we seek to meet this goal is by offering evangelism equipping events around the state throughout the year. In fact, it is our desire that KBC churches and leaders would not see a need to leave Kentucky to be equipped in evangelism. Coming at the end of this month is an event called Reset Evangelism that will be held in four different locations across the state: Pikeville, Paducah, Louisville and Bowling Green.

What is Reset Evangelism? Great question! To “reset” something means “to set again, or differently.” Evangelism means “to share the good news of Jesus with people who are far from God with the hope and goal of leading them to faith in Christ for salvation.” So, to reset evangelism means to set again about the work of trying to win people to Jesus.

Reset Evangelism is a one-day event led by Dr. Don McCutcheon, former evangelism director for Florida and North Carolina. At this training, the attenders will hear multiple tried and proven evangelism tools that can help a church strengthen their outreach efforts. Don is an excellent presenter and those who attend will likely leave inspired and encouraged to be more personally evangelistic. One Kentucky Baptist leader who attended this training last year went back to his church and implemented one thing he learned at the training. The result was the church experienced a 70 percent increase in baptisms from the previous year.

The dates and locations for this year’s training will be in Bowling Green on July 18, Paducah on July 20, Louisville on July 25, and Pikeville on July 27. The cost for the training is $30 per person, to cover the cost of the materials. The link to register is www.kybaptist.org/reset, or call the KBC Evangelism office at (502) 489-3418. If you register at least seven days prior to the scheduled event, you can get $5 off with the coupon code: 5 OFF RESET.

Please pray for us that we can encourage, equip and inspire 200 Kentucky Baptist leaders through this excellent training opportunity. Those who attend will leave the training with a clear sense of direction as to how they should lead in evangelism in their setting and context of ministry. It is my conviction that encouraged, equipped and inspired evangelistic church leaders will move us toward to the goal of reaching Kentucky and the world for Christ.

Thank you for your prayers and support.
