Assistant Editor Myriah Snyder brought home two second place awards in the Associate Newspaper's Division: Best General News Story for her article, "East Kentucky church among first to embrace solar power," and Best Enterprise or Analytical Story for her article, "State senator and wife adopt 'snowflake baby.'"

Editor Todd Deaton received a first place award for Best Editorial in the Associate Newspapers Division, based on a selection of three editorials from 2017. The winning entry contained "You can say what you want … but should we," "Human trafficking on state legislators' docket," and "It matters how we answer these questions."

The contest was open for entries published between Oct. 1, 2016 and Sept. 30, 2017 by more than 80 Kentucky Press Association member newspapers and drew more than 2,450 entries. (WR)
